About Me

Hey, thanks for checking out my website! My name is Ben Burman. I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker who did a brief stint in Massachusetts, an even briefer stint in Australia, and is now back to adventuring at home.

They call me Benny Startup… okay maybe they don’t, but for the past few years, startups have kind of been my big thing. My passion for innovation took off right after I began studying at UMass Amherst. I joined organizations like the Entrepreneurship Club, helping found the school’s first accelerator, ULaunch @ UMass. The following two summers, I interned at MassChallenge and Roomi. From there, I got the chance to work with the Maroon Fund, UMass’s first venture fund, right before graduating and launching my post-grad career at Wibbitz.

Today, I work at Republic — a leading investment platform that’s democratizing startup investing by helping founders reward their community, connect with investors, and raise capital. For my side-hustle, I host and produce Starting It Up — a podcast where I interview dozens of top startup founders, CEOs, and investors on their entrepreneurial stories. For my side-side hustle, I helped launch Podcast Row — a series of events connecting entrepreneurs of all stripes with podcasters so that they can share their stories.

The rest of my time is spent pretentiously reading my kindle on the subway, listening to a ridiculous amount of podcasts on pretty much any topic, traveling the world and becoming cultured, and watching way too many youtube videos on real estate investing and personal finance.

In all seriousness though, I’m always looking to get involved in new opportunities, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to connect or collaborate!
